Who Writes for Breakcore Guide
Every article on Breakcore Guide is written by a working electronic music producer with direct experience in breakcore production. We don't commission articles from general music journalists or writers who haven't made this type of music. The techniques, plugin recommendations, and production advice in our tutorials come from producers who use these tools in their own work — not from documentation, PR materials, or secondhand sources.
Our team has collectively been producing electronic music for 5+ years, working in FL Studio, Ableton Live, and Renoise. We've released tracks independently on Bandcamp and SoundCloud, and our production experience informs every guide we write.
How We Test Tutorials
Before publishing a tutorial, the technique or workflow described is tested in the current version of the relevant software. For example:
- FL Studio tutorials are verified in FL Studio 21 on Windows 11
- Ableton tutorials are verified in Ableton Live 12 on macOS
- Renoise tutorials are verified in Renoise 3.4
- Plugin recommendations are tested on both Windows and macOS where possible
We include the software version and testing conditions in each article's E-E-A-T badge where relevant. If a tutorial was written for an older version and we haven't verified it in the latest version, we note that clearly.
How We Review Gear and Samples
Gear articles (DAWs, headphones, audio interfaces) are based on direct use of the products described — either equipment we own or equipment we've used extensively in production environments. We don't review products based on manufacturer specifications alone.
Sample pack reviews are based on downloading and using the packs in actual breakcore productions. We don't accept free products from vendors in exchange for coverage, and we don't adjust ratings based on affiliate relationships. Our affiliate disclosure explains all commercial relationships transparently.
Artist Profiles: How We Research
Artist profiles are based on publicly available interviews, official discographies, documented production techniques (Venetian Snares' Renoise use, for example, is documented in multiple interviews), and our own listening and analysis. We cite sources where possible. We correct profiles when new information becomes available.
Affiliate Relationships
Some links on this site earn us a small commission if you buy through them. This never influences what we recommend or how we rate products. We follow a strict policy: if we wouldn't use it ourselves, we don't recommend it, regardless of commission rate. Some of our most highly recommended products (like FL Studio's free trial or free plugins like VITAL and DBlue Glitch) earn us nothing. Our full policy is in the Affiliate Disclosure.
Update Policy
Music production software updates frequently. We review and update tutorials when:
- A major software version changes a workflow we've described
- A plugin we've recommended changes its pricing or availability
- We find a better approach than the one currently described
- A reader points out an error or outdated information
Each article displays a "Last Updated" date. Articles older than 12 months are flagged for review on a rolling basis.
Correction Policy
We make mistakes. When we do, we correct them. If you find factual errors, outdated information, or broken links:
- Use the contact form on our About page
- Describe the error and, if possible, provide a source for the correct information
- We review all correction requests and respond within 5 business days
- Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the relevant article
We don't silently edit articles to fix errors — if a correction changes the substance of an article, we note what changed and when.
What We Don't Do
- We don't accept payment to feature products, change review scores, or write promotional content presented as editorial
- We don't publish AI-generated content without editorial review and verification
- We don't use technical jargon without defining it — our Glossary defines 40+ production terms
- We don't recommend products we haven't tested
